August Ernst – Facts and figures

The company is founded in 1898 by Master Distiller August Ernst. Before long the company specialities 'Oldesloer Korn' and 'Oldesloer Kümmel' become firm favourites in the surrounding area. On the 50th anniversary of the company in 1948, the main customer is the gastronomy sector, but initial contacts have already been established with the food and specialist wholesale trade. Between 1978 and 1992, August Ernst GmbH & Co. KG acquires renowned spirits manufacturers such as the fruit distillery Specht or the Greiz liquor factory and herb distillery in Thüringen. In 1990, the new distillery is completed, in 1993 a fourth generation family member Thomas Ernst takes over the role of Managing Director. 

The company has 40 employees in Bad Oldesloe and a further 22 in Meerane in the district of Saxony.
