Ariane 6 before its start

The European launcher Ariane 5 had recently completed its 100th start. The anniversary rocket successfully brought two telecommunication satellites into space. Europe‘s largest aerospace workhorse lifted off from the space port Kourou in French Guiana. The first Ariane 5 started in 1996. The maiden flight ended in a disaster – the rocket exploded. The European Space Agency ESA is currently developing the successor Ariane 6. The first flight is planned for the middle of 2020.
